One Act Play Festival

The MCDA One Act Play Festival is coming soon...

Four plays are being entered by the LADS, two of them written by our own members. We expect some strong competition from the other local groups taking part and look forward to a very high standard throughout. It's a great way to sample the best of local dramatic talent and enjoy a varied evening of short plays and friendly competition. We're delighted that last year's adjudicator, David Price, will once again be joining us for unenviable task of judging the competition.

The Festival will take place over four evenings 4th - 7th April at Berriew, with more details about running order to follow soon.

Break a leg, LADS!

Directors' Workshops

Members of several local drama groups (who will be competing in the upcoming one-act play competition*) gathered at Llanymynech for a weekend of professional training with RSC voice and text coach, Michael Corbidge.

Michael put the wannabe directors through their paces in a weekend that was all about active participation and fun. There is going to be a second cluster of workshops over the weekend 16th-18th March, and all members of the MCDA groups are welcome (including LADS).

Michael will be formally welcomed as patron of the LADS at our AGM on 15th March. His input via the RSC Open Stages project and later as an independent practitioner has helped the LADS achieve new heights - and we continue to aim high.

*Montgomery Community Drama Association one-act play competition will this year see eleven plays performed over four nights of friendly competition. The LADS entries will also be performed at the Village Hall.
