Rave reviews for 'Under Milk Wood'

The LADS recently completed a four night run of 'Under Milk Wood', playing to packed houses and rave reviews.

The show played three nights at the group's home venue, Llanymynech Village Hall, plus a bonus performance at Ellesmere College Arts Centre. The production included original artwork, set design and music, all created especially for the show. It also boasted eight new members of the LADS, some of whom were making their acting debuts.

Audience members were full of praise for the production: "An absolutely brilliant production with nothing amateur about it." "Best thing seen in recent years. Not a weak link anywhere." "If you are not able to see this superb production, you have missed a real treat."

Under Milk Wood tickets

Tickets still available for our final performance on Tuesday 21st (Ellesmere College Arts Centre).

Some reviews from our audience:

"I have just got back from tonight`s performance of Dylan Thomas`s Under Milk Wood by the Llanymynech Amateur Dramatic Society.
It is an absolutely brilliant production with nothing amateur about it. It was most imaginative construction of what was originally a `Play for voices` migrated to the stage.
If you can possibly get a ticket I advise you to go along... If you are not able to see this superb production - you have missed a real treat."

"This is, without doubt, the best thing seen in recent years. Not a weak link to be seen anywhere. This includes sound, lighting, stage management and most of all, direction.
A big hats off to Alison Utting, whose vision for this seminal piece has made LADS history for 'pulling it off'.There are a couple of people up there watching who must be very, very proud. Bloody well done."

Under Milk Wood - coming soon!

Welcome to Llareggub.

Home to blind Captain Cat who dreams of drowned sailors and lost love, Mog Edwards the draper secretly in love with sweet-shop owner Myfanwy Price, Dai Bread with his two exuberant wives, Mrs Ogmore-Pritchard with two ghostly late-husbands, Polly Garter with her many babies, and Reverend Eli Jenkins who watches over his flock as he dips his pen absent-mindedly in his cocoa.

Dylan Thomas’s masterpiece is sixty-four years old, yet as fresh and inventive as ever. Beautiful, surreal, comic, and full of romance, ‘Under Milk Wood’ invites us to swim in the sea of Thomas’s voluptuous language and explore the secret thoughts of his quirky characters. Led by seasoned members who have been working with the RSC, the LADS are also joined by several new faces for this salty classic.

With performances at Llanymynech Village Hall on 16, 17 and 18 November, plus a bonus performance at Ellesmere College Arts Centre on 21 November, this is definitely one not to miss. Tickets are £7 (£3.50 for children) and are available online via our 'Buy Tickets' page, or from all our usual sources.

We strongly recommend advance booking for this production.
